Over the
years, Wendy Harrison and her family have lovingly restored Bubbenhall
House. Oak beams and a splendid Jacobean staircase are features of the
architecture, and spacious ground floor areas include an elegant dining
room and a choice of sumptuous lounges. The surrounding woods are
carpeted with bluebells in the spring and are home to one of only two
dormouse sanctuaries in England. The house
is set in five acres of ancient woodland and is home to a wonderful
array of local flora and fauna. Visitors to the gardens include badgers,
Muntjac deer, foxes, rabbits, squirrels, owls and woodpeckers. The best
time to see these creatures is early in the morning from the comfort of
the dining room at the rear of the house. This has the added attraction
of a hearty English breakfast!
